Welcome to Grand Falls – Windsor
Grand Falls-Windsor is a uniquely special place. It boasts natural and man-made amenities that make it a great location to live for young and old alike. Our citizens are charmed each day by our scenery, recreational facilities, economic prospects and so much more. You will be, too!
If the banks of the Exploits River could speak, they would have much to say about the founding of the town and those who came before. The Exploits River holds stories of settlement dating back to the Beothuk, whose history can be learned at the Demasduit Regional Museum. In the early 1900s, Grand Falls-Windsor was originally founded as a company town centered around the A.N.D. Company’s pulp and paper mill, which supplied newsprint to England. Much of the Town’s early history is preserved at the Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Society Museum.
Attractions & Things to Do
Grand Falls-Windsor is located in the center of the island of Newfoundland, along the Exploits River. One of the Town’s best attractions is its natural outdoor environment. Take a walk along the Corduroy Brook Nature Trail, have a picnic at Gorge Park, visit the Salmonid Interpretation Centre, take a white water rafting trip with Rafting NL, or get the view from above with Exploits Extreme Ziplines to see what natural wonders our Town has to offer.
Annual events include the Mid-Winter Bivver in February or March, the ATV/Poutine Festival in June, the Exploits Valley Salmon Festival in July, and the Christmas Park Light-Up in December. For information on all of these events (and more!) visit: Grand Falls-Windsor Events.
