Welcome to Millertown

Millertown is a small community surrounded by the Gaff Topsail Plateau, lush boreal forests, and the Exploits River. Founded in 1900 by Lewis Miller, who recognized the region’s timber potential, the town has a rich history rooted in the logging industry. Millertown offers access to stunning natural landscapes, warm Newfoundland hospitality, and outdoor activities for both residents and visitors alike.

Various attractions include Indian Point, a National Historic Site, offering insights into the Beothuk heritage with Mamateek replicas and informative boards. The Exploits Dam, constructed in 1926, adds to the region’s charm, facilitating pulp log transportation down the Exploits River. Mary March Wilderness Park, situated on the scenic Red Indian Lake, provides a serene setting for nature enthusiasts. Hiking trails, berry picking, hunting, and fishing are popular activities in the area. The “Mountain” offers panoramic views of Millertown and Red Indian Lake.

Millertown’s history reflects its adaptation to changing times, from its early logging days to becoming a vibrant, modern community. Today, it continues to draw visitors seeking the perfect blend of natural beauty and hospitality.
