Welcome to Point Leamington
Point Leamington offers serene surroundings and a peaceful escape, making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The History of the town dates back to the 1700’s when it was originally called South West Arm of New Bay. The Area was frequented by Maritime Archaic people, Beothucks and early European trappers. The main industry at that time were salmon fishing and sawmill lumber operations.
The Rowsell’s Hill Hiking Trail meanders along the Mill River and offers some breath-taking views. Continue on and you will find Jacob’s Ladder. A stairway of 386 steps which will lead you up to the Lookout. (This portion of the trail we recommend for the more advanced hikers). At the Lookout, you can sit and enjoy a lunch at the picnic area, view Point Leamington and surrounding areas through you may even see some wild game (moose, rabbit).
If you enjoy nature trails, the town also offers a 1.5km boardwalk trail that circles around Otter Pond. There you can witness the beauty of the forest as well, and may also see some wildlife, (especially beaver). Picnic areas are also provided throughout the trail.
