Welcome to Rencontre East

Rencontre East is an isolated community on the south coast (access by ferry only) population approximately 108 residents.

We are known for our beautiful views that includes wonderful fishing and swimming areas. We have a board walk that goes around a pond where you may see some frogs, birds and you can even catch a trout or two!
Our community is “dirt road” so our mode of transportation is ATVS and side by sides.

We aren’t shy and when you meet us we will treat you like friends and family. Rencontre Day is an annual celebration in August that consist of kid games, good food and a dance to end the night. You might even be invited to a “scatter shed party!”

Getting to Rencontre East is an adventure in itself, as the town is accessible only by scheduled ferry service from ports in Pool’s Cove and Bay L’Argent. The ferry MV Terra Nova is the lifeline connecting this isolated yet welcoming community to the outside world.
